It was once thought that Megaraptor was a gigantic dromaeosaurid (Raptor family) in fact it is a Carnosaur related to Allosaurus. The fossil was best known for this claw more than 30cm long which resembled the sickle-shaped claws of dromaeosaurids. The discovery of a complete forelimb revealed that this giant claw belonged to the first finger of a carnosaur's hand.
